Tomorrow, February 3rd marks the 53rd anniversary of the plane crash from the Winter Dance Party tour. That crash took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and JP “Big Bopper” Richardson. The only original headliner of that tour that did not take the plane and is still around is Dion Dimucci.

When I was a kid, I used to play basketball in Seth Low Park in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. The neighborhood was mostly Italian and a good number of Jewish families. There were other ethnic groups, just not many.
Although Brooklyn NY has traditionally been the place for first and second generation Americans, I was sort of surprised at the change in the ethnic makeup on the courts. I did notice they were a lot better players than I was when I played on those courts.
Santacon this year was early December. I was there camera in hand to catch the Santas (and the Hanukkah Harrys).
